My name is Kathee Grgich, and I founded Silver Lining because I genuinely believe I am called to serve people in their most vulnerable moments. We have seen too many families face this transition without anyone truly in their corner, and it breaks my heart every time.

My journey into this work started during my years as a Community Service Officer with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. A woman walked in holding a cardboard box filled with envelopes she thought were unpaid bills. They were solicitations. No one had been protecting her. That moment never left me.

After years in in-home caregiving and working as a placement specialist inside a larger agency, I knew we could serve families better on our own terms, without corporate quotas, without pressure, and with our whole hearts. So in 2025, Silver Lining was born.

Outside of helping others through major life transitions, I am also a mom of four boys and a grandma to seven wonderful grandchildren. My husband and I love going on adventures together, and I bring that same adventurous spirit to finding the right home for every family we serve.

If the service is free, how do you get paid?

We receive a commission from the care community where your loved one is placed, but only after the placement is working well. Our interests line up perfectly with yours. If it is not the right fit, we do not get paid. So you can trust we are always finding the best fit, not the highest price.

Question:

Will you push us toward the most expensive place?

No, and we hear this question often. We stay within your budget, always. We have seen too many families stretched into a placement they could not sustain, and it creates more heartbreak than anyone needed. That is not how we work, and it never will be.

Question:

Do we have to sign any contract with you?

Absolutely not. Families never sign anything with us. We earn your trust through what we do. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you honestly and point you somewhere better. That is just how we operate.

Question:

My loved one does not have much money. Can you still help?

Yes. We work with families across every financial situation. We know which homes accept Medi-Cal, how CalAIM works, and how to navigate state programs most families have never heard of. We will be completely honest with you about what is possible. Everyone deserves dignity in their care.

Question:

What is the difference between assisted living and a residential care home?

Assisted living is a larger community with many residents, organized activities, and multiple staff. A residential care home is a licensed private home with up to six residents and dedicated caregivers always present. The care ratio is much higher, meals are home-cooked, and for many seniors it simply feels more like home. We help you figure out which fits your loved one best.

Yes. Hospital and skilled nursing discharge situations are most of what we do. We can schedule tours within 24 to 48 hours and have relationships with hundreds of vetted facilities across the region. We work fast without cutting corners on quality.
